SCKattered Thoughts

Jill Timieski – Front End Developer

Jill has an appealingly eclectic background, which she brings to her web development work each day. She attended high school in Alaska, and went to college in Texas. For a time, she designed theatrical costumes for the Cleveland Institute of Music and Case Western Reserve University. She says she learned a lot about the importance of deadlines by working in the theatre, where, despite any obstacles, the show must go on. Today, she creates websites using a variety of technologies, including SCK’s own content management system. She also manages the traffic of HTML and web update requests from internal and external clients. She received her B.A. in Art History from the University of Texas and her A.S. from Cuyahoga Community College in Web Design and Development.

What is your favorite website? And why
icanhascheezburger.com
I like cats, perhaps way too much. This site is just so amusing and silly. Web development takes a lot of concentration and sometimes I need a mental break during the day. Icanhascheezburger is just the ticket.

What book is currently on your night stand?
I usually read books my father-in-law gives me after he has read them. He was career navy and spent his time on subs, so he likes thrillers that take place at sea a lot. If those aren’t available, most mysteries or espionage novels will do. Right now I’m reading through the pile of Stuart Woods novels he has given me.

What would you rather be doing?
I would rather be reading a good mystery novel with my feet up and a cat or two by my side.

What is on your to do list?
I am working on new cushion covers for the porch furniture. I got this wonderful Mexican oil cloth the last time I was in Austin, Tx and I have wanted to use it for the cushions but there wasn’t enough. This spring I found some coordinating indoor/outdoor upholstery fabric to use with the oil cloth. I finished one chair and it looks great. Two more chairs to go!

If you could travel anywhere in the world where would you go?
This is a tough one. I love to travel and have lots of places I want to see. Right now, the top of the list would be Barcelona to see all of Gaudi's architecture.

What was your weirdest job?
This was when I worked at SBC (now ATT) in the Executive Appeals section of the collections department. I handled escalated complaints from customers in the states of Illinois and Indiana. Most of the time I dealt with people who had genuine problems and I worked for a resolution that would work for both them and the company. However, we got some really odd complaints sometimes and some real odd balls on the phone. Often we would hear from the same people over and over again who were trying to not pay their bills every month. One of these repeat complainers didn’t realize he got the same couple of people on the phone every month and would make up new stories. He liked to pretend that he was a Hollywood movie producer but he would tell me things that didn’t make sense, such as he had his time zones mixed up and thought the time was later in California than it was here. Needless to say, I was not impressed.

These are two stray cats I have been taking care of. They live on the porch since I have 4 others in the house. They showed up together and are best buddies. The little black one is Marcello and the tabby is Big Boy. They can be yours and you can enjoy their adorableness around your house! Call 216-522-9740.
One of the beautiful views from a hiking trail near Bar Harbor, Maine.
The beginning of sunset and the view from Mount Desert. Below you can see the lights of Bar Harbor.
One of the lilies in my garden.
My favorite place on earth - Mayfield Park in Austin Texas. Someone donated an old house and several acres of land to the city. There are lily ponds and gardens around the house, peacocks wandering through the grounds and there are hiking trails in the woods. It is all very beautiful and peaceful.
