SCKattered Thoughts

Barb Cagley – President

Barb absorbed the lessons of running one’s own business early, watching her father develop his dry cleaning business. She co-founded SCK in 1996, after 20 years of producing award-winning design projects. Barb now focuses on business development, building the unique internal SCK culture and providing innovative marketing solutions for clients. Prior to SCK, Barb worked at CompuServe when the world was just realizing the value of the internet. She received her education in graphic design from Cooper School of Art. Barb’s business acumen has been recognized at both the national and regional levels. In 2008, Enterprising Women magazine named her among the top female entrepreneurs in America, and Northern Ohio Live magazine conferred upon her its “Rainmaker” award. She is past president of the Cleveland chapter of the National Association of Women Business Owners and a co-founder of ReStore Tremont.

What is your favorite website and why?
It must be sck.net, I seem to on it all the time updating our news, awards and blog.

What book is currently on your night stand?
There are a pile of business and fiction books but the one I am reading is “The Help” by Kathryn Stockett.

What would you rather be doing?
Taking the dog for a walk.

What is on your to do list?
I refuse to make lists at home anymore because I get frustrated when nothing gets done. Now, without a long list of undone projects, when I do complete something I feel satisfied that I got something accomplished.

If you could travel anywhere in the world where would you go?
That is my challenge, I cannot narrow it down to one place.

What was your weirdest job?
Baseball statistician for Strongsville’s recreation departments men software games. I had to set-up the bases too. I carried them in my car and they were so dusty I would sneeze. I am going to quote Seth Godin’s blog and ask: When newspapers are gone, what will you miss?
My Photos
After a conference in Las Vegas my daughters joined me for a girls weekend on the strip.
Babushka dog.
I took this photo of Tom, my husband, we were eating lunch in Howth, Ireland; it was one of those perfect days.
This seaside is in Ireland. I took it on my 2009 vacation.
I went backpacking in Seneca Creek Trail, West Virginia October 2008. It was THE perfect fall weekend.
It was impossible to take a bad photo with scenery like this. Seneca Creek Trail in West Virginia waterfall.
The dogs love backpacking as much as I do. To bad they cannot carry my pack.
